Phosgene
Room Spell presents: PHOSGENE
War. War never changes. Phosgene gas was used extensively during World War One, in hostile, seemingly never-ending, hellish trench warfare. Used by all nations against all nations, the effects of Phosgene were absolutely devastating. Immediate stinging and streaming eyes, a sore throat which would feel like swallowing razorblades, and a deep, sudden chesty cough, which often led to a complete shutdown of the lungs and death by asphyxiation. Many a soldier succumbed to the effects of phosgene gas, clutching helplessly at their throats in a sea of inescapable fog. Our Phosgene scent profile, believe it or not, is actually quite pleasant on the nose! We spent many hours reading historical documentation, which came direct from the trenches, to figure out exactly which scent notes we needed to use. We believe we have created an accurate interpretation of phosgene's deadly aroma; freshly cut grass, warm, wet and slightly musty hay and a sharp undertone of green corn. These main notes are supported by a base spectrum of churned up turf, mould and a slight ozonic note of rain. There is also a subtle middle note of canvas, to represent the rugged, battle-worn uniforms of the soldiers in the fray. Breathe in our interpretation of phosgene, without experiencing any of the harmful effects!
